29th running of the
Marine Corps Marathon. I ran my only Marine Corps Marathon in 1982, at age 44 and with
herniated L4 and L5 disks.
And was still able to walk to the Pentagon parking!
Congratulations to Mike Hagee, 33rd Commandant of the Marine Corps.
I met Major Mike Hagee back in 1982 when he came to Headquarters, USMC,
to head the Officer Plans Section.
I worked with him through 1986 until he became the Assistant Chief of Staff, G-1, 2MarDiv.
Those of us who worked with him knew that he would make general. But I don't think any
of us envisioned his becoming Commandant.
I am very interested in History, especially Military History, more especially
Marine Corps History, and most especially World War II Marine Corps History.
