V. A. Hospital Cards

State Veterans counselor Terry Bresina urges all V.F.W. members to apply for their Purple or Blue VA hospital card, which minimizes the hassle when applying for medical care at VA facilities. Just bring a copy of your discharge or DD-214, and family income information to the:

Free Accidental Death Insurance

Members of the V.F.W. receive a free $1,000 accidental death insurance policy with their membership, as long as they file a beneficiary statement with the Quartermaster, and maintain membership. Another reason to become a life member; your membership never lapses, and you can't lose your insurance.

Life For Half

Anyone interested in becoming a Life Member of the V.F.W. now may do so at half price. Post 2782 is encouraging life membership by going halves with applicants. Life members do not pay annual dues, save the V.F.W. administrative costs and enjoy the prestige of a lifelong commitment to the most exclusive organization in the world: combat and occupational zone veterans of the United States Armed Forces. Contact the Quartermaster for details.

'Peacetime' Korean Vets Eligible'

Recognizing the fact that a lot of hostilities occurred outside the periods of service recognized by The Korean Service Medal (1950-1953) and the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (1966-1973), the V.F.W. has opened membership eligibility to any serviceman who has served in Korea from mid-1949 to the present, even if their service was not recognized by a service medal. Post 2782 has already signed up three new members as a result of the change, and there must be dozens more out there. If you have any friends or acquaintances who served in Korea outside the 1950-1953 and 1966-1973 periods, let them know they now are eligible for V.F.W. membership.

Even better, sign them up!

Persons interested in joining Post 2782 may contact the Quartermaster, Angelo Garito, or any post member.

Remodeled Barroom

Members who haven't been inside the club for a few months are in for a surprise. The barroom has been enlarged and remodeled, extending into the area of the former kitchen. There's really room for two people to pass on their way to the bar now. Stop in and look around. See for yourself that the VFW is the most progressive club in town. You don't have to drink alcoholic beverages to enjoy the club. Soft drinks and snacks are always available, and there are two 25-inch color TVs.

VFW Hall

Want to rent the VFW Hall for weddings, parties, meetings? Contact House Chairman Neil Thomas at 336-8700.
